The small Sunday trip to Devarabetta

I happened to see the picture of the temple sometime ago and asked my friend (it’s their home temple) if we could go over there, well he did say yes at that time it happened only after a year and half. We both happened to meet one evening for a cup of tea and while talking this old topic of going to this temple came up, so we decided then why not this weekend on a Sunday!!

We called up early in the morning and decided to leave at around 7:30 in the morning and we both met at the Silkboard junction and started our journey on my friend’s bike, we decided to go on the flyover and the weather with cool breeze and a bit cloudy perfect for a bike ride. We stopped at Chandapura had our breakfast and left via Anekal.

We passed through the open fields and farm lands on the way with the beautiful aroma of mother nature from the near by farm lands and the weather was getting colder and hope we could have a bit sunshine to heat us up. We reached the Tamilnadu border at around 10am and reached our destination in an half an hour from there.

The place is around 40kms from Bangalore and the roads are pretty ok, we visited both the temples one at the bottom and one on top of the hill and had some monkey scares near the temple, spent some time on top with a nice picturesque view of the forest behind the hills with some small local kids for our company.

As we didn’t expect the trip to conclude so soon, we then decided to head to Hosur about 30kms from there to have a look at few places, we went to the temple built by the Pandavas on top of the hill. But the temple was closed as it was mid afternoon so we decided that to come back again and explore Hosur fully. We left and dropped at the R.K Garden to full our hungry stomach and headed back home.

We finally reached home in the evening and so ended our small Sunday trip.

Back to Sholgere on bikes.

As it was Dussera we all had a few extra holidays, we called each other and set our destination to Sholgere from Kemanagundi which was our first plan, we decided upon to Sholgere as it was near and wouldn’t be much a strain on bike. We started a bit late at around 2:30pm in afternoon.

We packed ourselves better this time with tent, mats, bed sheets, grocery items for our stay and his time we also booked the IB (Information Bungalow) and there were a few people from forest department to take care of us. We reached Kanakapura at around 4:30 and from there to Sathnur by 5:00pm. We brought all that we wanted from groceries to chicken at Sathnur and packed it left as it was getting a bit dark.

We reached the top at around 6:00 and man this time the road had become from bad to worse due to rains and it was probably a test for the bikes, the slopes were very steep and with our luggage the journey was a bit tough. As soon as we reached the destination we put on the tent as it had become a bit dark and later gave the groceries to the guard to prepare food for us, they did prepare chicken masala as dry and white rice with chicken curry later.

We also put on fire camp as it was a bit cold out there but we expected much severe weather this time as it is winter time around but as it was getting darker the sky tended to become clearer and the land lit with glowing moonlight and sparkling stars. It had been a few years since I had seen so many stars in the sky and man it was perfect clear sky with a chill breeze, we had our food outside near the fire camp. Later we were treated by the guards by their folk songs sung by them and it went on till mid night. So as we were bit tired due to the journey we all slept after the folk song sessions.

We stayed there till next evening and left the place at around 4:00 pm and the weather was perfect while we were descending from the hills, with cool breeze running through our faces and the sunlight touching the top of the mountain the view was wonderful to watch, but fortunately the battery of our camera had drained out so we couldn’t capture it.

On the way back we sat at a dhaba and had food and reached home by 9:00pm, the trip was good as it had been really long time since we had a bike trip and thinking of making the next bike trip a bit longer one.

A trip to Adhirapally Falls

It was on the day of Onam we all decided to go on a trip to Adhirapally falls on the next day which is about 130 kms from our native place. While the course of talking we decided upon the transportation, people and a route which is not taken often to the destination. We took the way round that takes us to Tamilnadu as we thought we could add a few more places on the way.

So we started our journey at around 8am in the morning and the food was arranged by ourselves as there were about 7-8 families into the trip, each family took upon on the responsibility to bring something to eat. We did have a variety of food from Chicken, Beef, Fish, Ghee rice, Bread and many more items. The food was delicious and many on the trip did get the after effects of having the food.

As we moved on through the country locations of Tamilnadu, we stopped at a few places to refill and check posts. As we reached near our first destination Aliyar Dam we all stopped a place and had our food, then we all headed to view the beautiful Aliyar dam. The view was good from the top of the dam on one side you had big mountains and on the other side you had a great view of coconut plantations till your sight reached.

After that we all headed towards Adhirapally, on the way it was a god section and we all did enjoy the view as we were travelling and there were about 41 hair pin bends on the way to Valpari which was the next town and the border place to Kerala. As we were going to the top the dam looked smaller and smaller to our eyes. The weather en route to the Valpari was awesome it started to get colder and colder we turned each hair pin bends from a hot and humid climate back at the dam and we all enjoyed the weather.

On the way we stopped at the Waterfalls tea estate that had a small tea stall, we all had a cup of tea from the stall and boy the tea was perfect added to the light drizzle and a cold weather. We clicked a few snaps there and left from there to our destination. We passed through Valpari and it as a good place to visit though we didn’t stop there I liked the place, it’s a lot like Munnar with lots of tea estates and the place is less crowded. We then passed through Sholayar dam and finally passed the way making to Kerala.

Finally at around 10:30 pm we reached the Adirapally falls our destination and still seems funny that we reached there at that time. We left the place and we encountered with elephants at the way back and it was a bit scary as they had blocked the road for about half an hour just few feet away from us. Finally it gave the way and we were out of the place.
By the time we reached home we were all dead tired and so our trip to Adhirapally ended. Summing up it was a great outing and we all did enjoy, but the total distance traveled was very hectic and the funny part at the end that we didn’t even see the place that we headed out to see.

Horsley Hills

As usual it was a quick call from a friend who asked me to join him to go to his farm which is in Madhanapalli in Andhra Pradesh; the place is about 150kmd from Bangalore. We left the house at around 8:00pm and went on to pick up another friend in ITPL in Whitefield as he said he would be a bit late we three stopped for food at a restaurant at Maratahalli and left the place midway as he called us and informed that is out of the office. We picked up him and on the way parceled our food at Paramount at ITPL and left the place at around 10:30pm.So began our journey to Horsley hills from Bangalore…

Horsley hills is a place just like the Nandi hills in Bangalore. It’s a bigger place with better amenities compared to Nandi hills and if you as lucky as me you may find wildlife around while travelling to the top of the hill. We stopped at the last turn of he hill as we couldn’t spot any wildlife while going to the top and as we switched off the light of the car it was pitch black at the spot, we sat there for a few minutes and left to our lodge and it was cold on top.

As we reached to our lodge we had our music session and had our food and slept at around 2am as we were all tired travelling. We all got up at around 10am and headed out to have a cup of tea outside. After finishing our tea we all headed out to visit a few tourist spots on Horsley hills like, Wind whistle, wind spot, Park,

We stayed there for two days and we visited Raghu’s farm and had some delicious tandoori (self made) and naati chicken which we took from Raghu’s farm. Horsley hills is a good place to visit with family for a day or two and get out of the hectic life from here, you need to book the government cottage before you head there as it is almost full even during unseasonal.

Movie Review: INCEPTION

When I saw the trailers initially well I wasn’t that pleased or impressed to catch up for this movie but after read some great reviews of Inception in newspaper and web from both critics as well as users it added to my excitement to watch this movie.
Some movies have made cry, some laugh, some thrilling, some bringing hope, some boring, some stupid but his movie didn’t make me cry or think or laugh but it kept me so engaging from the beginning till the end, even most of the people at the theatre said wow at the last frame of the movie.

The movie is about a thief who steals ideas from people subconscious minds with the help of few people added with lots of twist and turns filled with action, thrills, frills and suspense added with emotional touch. Well I could explain the fully as it is a review but how to it’s a bit tricky as I would take 2-3 pages to write as it’s a bit complicated to explain.

You need to watch it to understand rather than read a review and get prepared to know what happens next; well the movie is totally unpredictable even till the ending. Every actor has done a great job in this movie and fantastically directed by Christopher Nolan.

The director took about ten years to write the screenplay of this movie and I think it is worth it and he’s the man who gave us the classics like Memento (Ghajini in hindi), The Prestige, Batman Begins, and The Dark Knight.

To sum up “Inception” is a smart, innovative, thrilling, amazing, astounding and mind blowing movie.

The art of drama at Ranga Shankara

It was a call from a friend who said let's go and watch a play at RangaShankara and I thought why not as I haven't seen one. Well iam not a great drama enthusiast as I felt it was a kind of boring stuff meant for the art lovers with long hairs but I must say I loved the play as it was very engaging & entertaining as well.

It was a hindi play called " Bikhre Bimb" acted by Arundathi Nag written and directed by Girish Karnad. The play only had only one single actor performing on stage. Well I was really astonished to see how a single actor on stage holding the attention of the audience for an hour and a half, I personally felt it was amazing performance by her which was well executed and superbly directed.I must mention Arundathi’s acting skills specially and indeed she did receive an standing ovation at the end of the play.

RangaShankara is a nice place to visit and even has a restaurant with a comfortable feel where you can have some chats and go on and watch the play and the must say the whole place is maintained well. They hold 3 shows every day at 12:30, 3:30 and 7:30 P.M respectively and they are closed on Mondays.

Kindly make sure that you switch off your mobile or put it into silent mode inside the auditorium or else be prepared to get rapped by the entire production team at the end of the show. I had a nice time at this place and hoping to catch few more art of dramas at RangaShankara.

Back to trekking days

It was almost 6 – 7 years since we had the last trek, we have been discussing a lot to get back to trekking, but there was always something or the other that would fail and we would eventually go on a trip rather than a trek. Trekking through the forest is always fun and exciting, but scary at times as well.

Those days of trekking was awesome, we never knew our destination we just used to pack our bags and head on to a destination which is unknown. It was most of the time difficult and some times very tiring with sun on top of you or heavy rains but the memories after would become worthwhile after the trip.

This trek to Sholgere happened in a few days time and was an unexpected one but the whole experience was worth the every effort we took to get there, we had a blast on top of the hill with a heavenly location and a picturestique view. We had everything on our side on this trip from the friend whole helped us arrange the whole place to the villagers who served us with their delicacy food of chicken curry in afternoon and horse gram curry in the night.

This place was so windy from the time we reached there to the time we left the place and we did have some scary moments as well but it was worth it. We would wake up at any small sound that happened it night as the place we had put our tent was inhibited by elephants but with good luck we didn’t face any problems as we only encountered elephant dung’s and not elephants’, but we did indeed spotted a few of them from the top of the hill which was away from us some 5-6kms.

Well this was one of the best places I have visited from all of my journeys and as the saying goes “ A traveler never plans his destination and is not intended on arriving”.

Miachel Schumacher is<-------BACK--------

Sporting one of the biggest icons is back, with several achievements under his belt and after a retirement of 3 years he is back to action. He is the one and only Michael Schumacher.

He is widely recognised as the world’s best ever racing driver. In 1995 Michael became the youngest double Formula 1 World Champion (1994 and 1995 seasons). He is also the 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 World Champion and his phenomenal records speak for itself.

Michael also holds the F1 records for: most career wins (91), most wins in a season, most career pole positions, most points during a season (148 in 2004), most consecutive world championships (5), most consecutive race wins (2004), most podium finsihes (154), most laps leading, most fastest laps (76), plus several others!.There can hardly have been a time in history when the best exponents of their craft have all quit at the same time, bowing out at the top.

Racing missed him as much as golf is missing Tiger Woods now that he’s back expect this season to be more competitive, spicier and made me watch the game again with all the others trying to prove a point. Well he’s back with a bang to again conquer the world of racing!!!

Sachin Tendulkar's monumental feets

Even as the people in the stadium screaming for "Sachin" on top of their lungs, yet another milestone in the twenty long years as cricketer with great success and milestone achievements. Yet another historic achievement in the world of one day cricket, finally finally the monumental feet of becoming the first cricketer to reach 200 runs in an ODI has been achieved and still saying the best is yet to come. What a great cricketer he has been all these years entertaining us for more than two decades and still has the enthusiasm and passion of a new cricketer after being for so long in playing cricket.

Some of the records Sachin has achieved in his career:

1. The highest run scorer in ODI.
2. Most number of hundreds in ODI (41).
3. Most number of man of the match in ODI (56).
4. Most number of man of the series in ODI (14).
5. First player to get 10,000 runs in ODI.
6. First player to pass 15,000 runs in ODI.
7. Most number of 50’s in ODI (87).
8. Played in most number of ODI’s (407).
9. Highest run scored in a calendar year (1894).

11. Sachin and Sourav hold the record for the maximum number of runs scored by the opening partnership (6271 runs from 128 matches).
12. Most ODI centuries in a calendar year (9 centuries in 1998).

And many more records, every ball he plays, every run he scores, every catch, every wicket he takes is a record in itself, hope he entertains us for more years. Taking a bow to the greatest cricketer the world has ever seen “Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar”.
